Why Breast Revision?
Breast Revision is when a patient who has had breast surgery in the past presents with a new concern that requires surgical modification. Dr. Stein’s fellowship specializing in reconstructive breast surgery makes him uniquely suited to treat these problems.
Some women may have discomfort and deformity after developing excess scarring around the implant (called capsular contracture). In these cases, Dr. Stein may remove the scar tissue, modify the breast pocket and exchange or remove the implants. In other cases, the implants have shifted over time and have drifted down (called bottoming out), out to the sides (lateral malposition), or to close together (called symmastia). In these cases, Dr. Stein may adjust the pocket to reposition the implants into the optimal position. Other patients with implants may want a change in size, shape or want their implants out altogether. Lastly, many women present to Dr. Stein after undergoing a breast reduction or breast lift elsewhere and are unhappy with the size, shape or nipple position. In these cases Dr. Stein performs a revision breast lift/reduction to improve the aesthetics of the breast.
